Access It takes about 10 minutes by car from JR Hakubi Line, Hiwa Station, or about 15 minutes by car from the Kayo Interchange on the Okayama Expressway.
If you have any concerns about transportation, please feel free to contact us in advance.We may be able to offer a free pick-up service from Hiwa Station for overnight guests (by prior reservation only).

About the accommodations

Farm Guest House Yuki chan is a traditional Japanese-style house which has a brazier and woodwork made by your host. Relax in your tatami covered bedroom. Even if this is your first experience, it will feel nostalgic. Remember the days when you were young and feel the nostalgia.

Since Yuki chan’s bathtub is relatively deep, enjoy a deep relaxing soak up to your shoulders. If the timing is right, Yuki obasama will put some yuzu (citrus fruit) in your bath for a healthy and refreshing yuzu-yu (citrus bath). Amenities for bathing and for getting ready in the morning include a toothbrush, shampoo, body-wash, cleansing foam, and hair dryer.

About the meals

Meals in the guest house will not be served. Please cook on your own or together with Yuki obasama of Farm Guest House Yuki chan. Yuki obasama’s specialty is local sushi, such as mamakari (sardine) zushi or saba (mackerel) zushi. Why not take the opportunity and learn how to prepare the house specialty? Depending on the season, enjoy sansai cuisine made with freshly picked wild mountain vegetables or authentic stone-baked pizza, or a barbecue at the lodge. The different ways of enjoying each season with a particular cuisine are the appeal of Yuki chan.

Example activities

【Jam making】

Make fresh jams by processing harvested fruit, such as blueberries and figs, at Yuki obasama’s house. If you have made too much, jar the jams and take them home with so that you can enjoy the richly flavored taste of mountain fruits.

【Half-day camp (except during the winter season)】

Using the lodge owned by Yuki chan, have fun at a half-day camp and enjoy relaxing alongside the river, making a campfire, and barbecuing while connecting with nature. (Since the lodge gets cold at night, accommodations are always at Yuki chan’s main house.)

  • Farming experience (picking vegetables, digging Japanese yams, sweet potatoes or taro, hunting for mushrooms and wild mountain vegetables, picking blueberries, harvesting ginkgo nuts, rice-growing and field farming)
  • Experience learning (making tofu, konjac, plum jam, umeboshi (pickled plum), miso, or dried persimmons; pounding mochi (rice cake); making okazari (decorations))
  • Activities (leaf viewing, relaxing alongside the river, Yamato Shrine , cutting mushroom logs, mowing, pruning, chopping wood)
