| "An old familiar memory" If you want to spend time like you are living here, why don't you come over? | We opened this guesthouse to allow people relax in a country house surrounded by nature and experience a type of Japanese culture and food that has been disappearing in recent times. Kan-chan, who loves mountains and woodworking, can make crafts using traditional tools unfamiliar to children today, such as knives, hammers and saws, as well as chop wood, and bake potatoes in a fire. You can also enjoy cooking traditional home-style dishes and Japanese food while communicating warmly with Emi-chan, who loves cooking while using easy Japanese. Our hope is that our guesthouse becomes a place that everyone feels like it’s their second home, including families traveling within Japan and foreign residents in Japan. |

About the accommodations

Hikasa guesthouse is not an old house. It was rebuilt, but using traditional construction techniques. Visitors can enjoy nature while experiencing the elegance of Japanese architecture. The wooden interior provides warmth, and the large windows in the rooms offer views of tall stone walls. During winter, you can also gather together and enjoy the warmth of the wood stove.
Bath and amenities

You can relax in the spacious bath. Don't worry if you forgot to bring something. Amenities you need for bathing and getting ready in the morning, such as toothbrushes, shampoo, body soap, facial cleansing foam, and hair dryers are all provided.
About the meals

At the guesthouse, you will enjoy making country home dishes with Emi-chan. Rice cooked over a wood fire in Hikasa guesthouse’s kamado has an exquisite fluffy texture and sweet taste. The style of having meals here is for everyone to gather around and enjoy side dishes made with seasonal ingredients, such as zanki (a type of fried chicken), potato salad, vinegared vegetable and Kinpira-gobo(braised burdock root and carrot), Sozuri-nabe(Okayama-style hot pot with scraped beef), Kenchin-jiru(Japanese vegetable and tofu soup from Zen temple cuisine), all while enjoying chattering away. You will truly enjoy traditional local flavors and the way we eat meals.

The mountain blessing helps us cook them deliciously with no need to add seasoning.
【Satoyama (rural area) landscape】
You can breathe the countryside air while doing something or doing nothing. Both will leave you satisfied.
For some reason, time passes slowly here.
【Taking a Walk】
Taking a walk in the refreshing air is also popular. Our house is located on a small hill, so when you look down, you can see a wide expanse of countryside. Everyone who visits loves the view of the sunset. You might even meet some friendly cows from the neighborhood during your walk.
