Relax in the sounds. Why not come and hear? In the house of Bupposo, calm gentle sounds can be heard from singing wild birds, a murmuring stream, and a crackling fire in the irori fireplace. If you are lucky, you can observe bupposo, an endangered species of wild bird, owls and other birds visiting the yard that blends hills and fields. Strolling around the hills and fields while listening to an explanation from your host Hina san may allow you to notice the flowers you never noticed before.

About the accommodations

宿舎01 宿舎02

An irori fireplace is maintained in the middle of the house of Bupposo. Pleasures will vary with the seasons, such as grilling fish skewers in summer and drinking sake around a hot pot in winter. Enjoy talking with your friends or quietly reflect on your own thoughts. Gaze into the soft flames of the rarely seen and experienced irori fireplace.

浴室・アメニティ01 浴室・アメニティ02

Although it is an old folk house in appearance, the bath is bright and fresh from renovation performed in 2015. Amenities for bathing and for getting ready in the morning include a toothbrush, shampoo, body-wash, cleansing foam, and hair dryer.

About the meals

食事01 食事02

Meals in the guest house will not be served. You can cook using prepared ingredients together with the staff of “Bupposo” or with just your fellow members as a self-catering menu. Dinner at “Bupposo” is seasonal cuisine using native and wild grass and garden-fresh vegetables. Since the vegetables grown by the owner, who also serves as chairman of the Mihara Farming Association, are handled with tender care and are all highly regarded as juicy and sweet, even those who typically dislike vegetables and children who dislike vegetables can eat them. Depending on the timing, you can eat local dishes: “kusagina kakemeshi (rice with kusagina leaves)” or “mukagomeshi (rice cooked with yam bulblets).
※Self-catering menu is subject to change depending on the accommodation schedule.
※If you want to know the day’s self-catering menu, make a separate inquiry.

Example activities

【Observation of bupposo (wild bird)】

宿舎01

Bupposo, an endangered species, returns to these woods and fields from June to late July every year. Behind the back of bupposo, you can see by hidden camera how they build their nests in the nest boxes installed on the premises and rear their chicks. Since they are quite rare, this opportunity to observe them will be something to boast about to wild bird fans.

【Relaxing alongside the river, fishing, and casting a net】

宿舎01

A clear stream flows on the other side of the road in front of Bupposo. In summer, you can relax alongside the river or enjoy fishing or casting a net. If you catch fish, try char-grilling your catch in the irori fireplace. This is also the real pleasure of Kibichuo Town with its rich nature.

【Making miso】

宿舎01

At Bupposo, the owner, who also serves as the chairman of the Mihara Farming Association, makes authentic miso by using homemade soybeans with self-prepared rice malt every year. Since you can take home the miso you have made yourself as a souvenir (at extra cost), compare the taste with the miso you typically use every day at home.
